About lions
The lion is the only one of the felines that lives in groups. A group generally consists of one or two males and two to twenty females. Groups of up to 35 lions have been seen.

In some areas, lions display abnormal hunting behaviour. An example of this is an area in Botswana (Savuti), where there are groups of lions that hunt elephants. Normally, however, the animals prey on smaller herbivores such as wildebeest and antelope.

In general, a group of lions has a fixed territory. In areas where major migrations take place, such as in the Serengeti and Masai Mara, the animals often follow the herds during migration.
